К нему задаётся вопрос на усиление. В аргументе чётко видно причину и следствие. Осталось только выбрать вариант ответа, усиляющий причину.

We are to strengthen that the reason monkeys use millipedes is to repel mosquitoes.
I am inclined to answer choice "C". It appeals to me the most. The problem with it is that it contradicts the evidence "Capuchin monkeys often rub ..."
Still it seems to be the best choice here.
A - weaken the argument; D and E are out of scope with regards to the question;
B talks about some other insects and there is no evidence that the later can do harm to monkeys in any way.

Protection from mosquitoes is required 'in general' not in rainy season or some other reason. Out of scope. For that matter, during rainy season, they can go somewhere else too to protect themselves from mosquitoes!! The stem does not support this at all.
So it's not C

It is a pretty nice argument

. Then I believe answer choice is "B" that shows the millipedes can be used to repel different insects.

Please, do explaine your point on the argument ..

Re:Critical Reasoning - 08.12.2007 20:06 C is definitely out because of 'rainy season'. What about other seasons? We need to suppose too much here, so it 's out.
About B:
The two chemicals repel other insects, so the conclusion is loosing strength (we only need to focus on mosquitoes). + No information about monkeys. So it is also irrelevant.

I think it is one of the hardest CR questions, that's why I put it here for discussion!

Re:Интересный вопрос по CR - 23.05.2008 20:04 A is not the best choice as the argument gives You "certain type of millipedes" in the first sentence.
A tells You "single millipede", which changes the conditions of the evidence.
You do not need to give the stongest proof of the argument when You are asked to strengthen it. The necessary action is to give the information, which will show the possibility of the conclusion itself.
